Dog and Cat Dental Care
At Loop 363 Animal Hospital, our comprehensive dental services include routine teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions, and oral surgery, as well as digital dental radiology services. We assist you in maintaining your pet’s pearly whites between visits, for better health and long life.
Your animal companion is subject to the same dental concerns as every member of the family, including gum disease, decayed or broken teeth, foul breath, abscesses, and tooth loss. Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums that, when left untreated, leads to inflammation, bleeding, and pain. Added complications can be extremely painful, even life-threatening, and may include heart, kidney, and lung disease.
Routine dental care is essential
Look for these signs, which indicate not only poor oral hygiene, but also poor health in your dog or cat:

- Red and swollen gums
- Pawing at mouth
- Excessive drooling
- Yellow/brown buildup on the teeth
- Dropping food while eating (could indicate oral pain)
- Unusual change in behavior
- Sleeping more often
- Reluctance to play with toys
- Decreased in appetite
- Unexpected weight loss

Dental X-rays are the only way to get a comprehensive evaluation of your pet’s teeth and supporting bones. The majority of your pet’s tooth (root) is hidden under the gum line and cannot be seen by visual inspection.
Digital dental x-rays help us:
- Identify problems such as tooth decay, damage to supporting bones, and the extent of dental injuries such as a broken (fractured) tooth.
- Find crowded or impacted teeth.
- Locate abscesses, cysts, or oral tumors.
- Check on the size and formation of permanent teeth, especially in toy or small dog breeds.
- Develop a treatment plan for more complex dental concerns.
The benefits of digital dental X-rays are so important that we include full-mouth dental X-rays in all of our dental packages.
