Dog and Cat Wellness Care
*We provide veterinary care for cats, dogs, reptiles, birds, exotics, and pocket pets.
Loop 363 is committed to being your trusted partner in the lifelong health of your pets. Since pets today are living longer—in part because of vaccines, diagnostics, and better treatment for illness—it is important that our patients are seen by medical professionals at least once a year.
Our wellness exams are a perfect way to make sure that your pet is doing well and on track to continue to live a happy and healthy life. We use this time to get to know your pet, answer questions, and offer advice on nutrition, exercise, behavior, and parasite prevention. We will discuss options for routine diagnostics and early detection lab work to ensure your pets’ internal health. After an initial exam and consultation, we work with you to tailor a veterinary health plan that is as unique as your pet.
Below are some of the things we will go over with you at your pet's exam, whether they are a new puppy or kitten or a pet reaching their golden years.
Yearly physical exams help to keep your pet Happy and healthy
PHYSICAL EXAM
Your veterinarian will examine your pet from nose to tail, noting any abnormalities and areas of concern that you may have. This will include an examination of dental health, skin and hair condition, eyes, ears, palpation of the abdomen and lymph nodes, and any neurologic and orthopedic evaluations appropriate to your pet’s age, species, and breed. We strive to make these visits as stress-free and comfortable as possible for your pet.
Infectious Disease Prevention (Vaccinations)
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners, and immunizations are an important part of that plan. Our vaccine protocol is individually based, depending on your pet’s lifestyle.
Parasite Preventatives
We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to prevent heartworms, intestinal parasites, and control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
ROUTINE WELLNESS DIAGNOSTICS
Heartworm Testing: Heartworms are a blood parasite transmitted by mosquitoes. Annual testing identifies heartworm disease in dogs so they may receive treatment before permanent damage to the heart and lungs occurs.
Early detection lab work: We recommend annual testing and diagnostics to evaluate blood cell counts, organ function, and hormonal changes. Diseases detected by these screenings include anemia, diabetes, kidney and liver disease, thyroid disease, certain types of cancer, and many others.
MICROCHIPPING
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery. They provide a permanent identification that cannot be lost, and is about the size of a grain of rice. It is placed under the pet’s skin between the shoulder blades.
Each microchip is unique and has an individual number used to track your information in a database that is accessible to anyone with a reader. When a microchip is implanted, your pet always has your information, even if they lose their collar or tags. Our microchips also have the added benefit of reading temperature, creating a less stressful and more pleasant exam experience for your pet.
